Mini-Journals – a Major Source of Inspiration

Recently, in my wanderings through Barnes & Nobles’ craft section, I came across The Creative Entrepreneur by Lisa Sonora Beam. As I gear up to have my second child, this seemed like the perfect book to read while I am away on maternity leave. It’s creative, insightful and chock full of great advice for creative entrepreneurs of all kinds- yes, I had to start it now.
So – wanting even more - I went to her website and discovered this cool Mini-journaling series. I started to create my own “mini-journals” from cards I’ve made.

Inside, the colored paper I filled it with is so inviting. I have been writing notes for classes, stories and even collaging. I take my mini-journal everywhere…even to the Drs. office so I can doodle and write while I wait. Check out her mini-journals and for a little bit of fun, try creating one of your own.

EVEN if you say – I’m not creative at all – you will be surprised how much fun you will have doing the mundane things like writing a grocery list in something you put together, something colorful – a reflection of you – that makes you smile.

couldn’t agree more! even if you’re just scribbling in a journal, those thoughts captured in the moment can be the springboard to a really fun creative project when you’re back in the studio! (that would be my kitchen!)
aimee – right on..I love scribbling drawings even mini-collaging (that might be my fav) as well as throwing down those random thoughts that might be – as you say – really fun creative projects – in even if occasionally I can’t fully read my own notes LOL (that’s cool it just makes for a more interesting twist to a project) then I head to my little desk to improvise …or the kitchen floor even though it’s a little harder to get up from it now at 8 months preggo LOL….and play
I made some mini journals to carry in my pocket, and actually, they have been great. Not just for jotting down notes, but also for little sketches or poems.
How big are your journals?
Rowena!! How are you?? So awesome to see you here….I just checked out your journals – they rock AND they are adorable!!
The ones I make in my shop are not really for toting around and then are about 5 x7 – the ones I was referring to here are the size of greeting cards – 5×7? They vary and they only have like 10-15 pages …they are super fun though.
